How to repair a damaged PDF
Add the PDF
One file, up to 50 MB. If it is readable at all, the pages render, and the tool tells you so: a file that already opens here may still be worth rebuilding if another application refuses it.
Know what a rebuild can and cannot do
It fixes a broken structure: damaged cross-reference tables, a truncated download, junk sitting in front of the header. It cannot bring back content that is not in the file.

The file is parsed as far as it can be and written out again cleanly, keeping whatever survived.
Keep your original
Form fields do not survive the rebuild, so the repaired copy is a readable document rather than a working form. Hold on to the broken file until you are sure the rebuilt one is what you need.
Frequently asked questions
What kind of damage can this actually fix?
Structural damage: a broken cross-reference table, a file cut short by a failed download, or junk bytes in front of the PDF header. Those are the faults that make a viewer refuse a file whose content is still intact.
Can it recover content that is missing?
No. A rebuild recovers what is still in the file. If pages were never downloaded or were overwritten, nothing can bring them back, and we say so rather than handing you a blank document.
Will everything survive the rebuild?
Text, images, links, annotations and bookmarks come through. Form fields do not: an interactive form comes back as a flat page. Keep your original file either way.
My PDF asks for a password. Is that damage?
No, that is encryption working as intended, and rebuilding will not remove it. Use Unlock PDF with the password you know.
