How to add a watermark to a PDF
Add the PDF
One file, up to 50 MB. The preview shows the pages before stamping, so the watermark itself only appears on the download.
Choose text or an image
Text starts at CONFIDENTIAL and you can type anything over it. An image lets you stamp a logo instead.
Set how it sits on the page
Size, colour, opacity and angle, and a position: tiled across the whole page, centred, or in any corner. The defaults are a 48pt mark at 25% opacity on a 45 degree angle, tiled.
Limit it to certain pages, then stamp
The pages box takes the same ranges as the rest of the site and blank means all of them. Worth knowing before you rely on it: a watermark is a mark on the page, not a lock. Anyone with a PDF editor, including ours, can take it off again.

Does a watermark stop someone copying my PDF?
No. A watermark is a mark on the page, not a lock. Anyone with a PDF editor, including ours, can remove it. Use it to label a document as a draft or a copy, and use a password if you need to control who opens it at all.
Can I watermark only some pages?
Yes. Type ranges like 1-3, 7, 12- in the pages field. Leaving it blank stamps every page, up to 500 a job.
Will the watermark cover my text?
It sits on top, so at full opacity it would. The default is faint and diagonal, which is why the classic tiled watermark stays readable over body text. Lower the opacity if your pages are dense.
Can I use my own logo?
Yes. Switch to the image watermark and upload a PNG or JPG up to 20 MB. A PNG with a transparent background works best, and you can set how wide it sits on the page.
